New Mass Transport Correlation for Vanadium Redox-Flow Batteries Based on a Model-Assisted Parameter Estimation

In this work, a two-dimensional mathematical model is applied to develop new mass transport correlation for an SGL GFD4.6A carbon felt in 100 cm2 single cell vanadium redox-flow battery under realistic flow conditions. Already published equations electrodes show large variation the resulting Sherwood numbers and are summarized work narrow probable range of parameters. A detailed investigation electrolyte properties, impedance spectroscopic characterization evaluation kinetic use potential probe signals identify overpotential positive negative carried out before parameter estimation by comparison experimental data. The validation yields good agreement between predicted data with following reliable equation: Sh = 0.07 Re0.66Sc0.45 (0.0018 < Re 0.11). characteristic length Reynolds number diameter fibers.
